Today he wishes to be a nobody
The stars on his shoulders mean nothing to him now
The achievements on the wall feel like dust of yesterday’s past
He doesn’t want to feel this pain no more
Carrying the weight of the invisible burden
That washes over him
Every now and than he just wants to curl up in a corner
Just listen to the silence sinking into his skin
Lost his wife to cancer
His son left him to expiry date and moved on with his life
Seeing his friends collapse to earth one after the other
Little did his memory fade with time
Second childhood in progress
loosing his teeth
learning to walk with change
How he loved playing cricket with his grandchild
Running like a sole full of life
working that toothless smile
Well life is a full circle
A general that led the military force is now a puppet in the hands of time
House arrest that burnt the daylight
The old man awaits for his grandson
At the grave
I know this a sad ending as I wanted to bring a little light into a small issue. We are living in a critical times like these. Where the senior citizens are worst effected emotionally. The fear of getting effected by this corona virus kills the light of day out of them and let alone going for a simple stroll down the street.
They are at a place where there are emotionally and physically weak. It’s our moral duty for the sake of humanity that is left from this crule world to check on our parents, grandparents or that old granny that lives on her own. Check on them when distance is matter of fact than we are only a call away.

Jesus…make me cry! “His son left him to expiry date” is a line more painful than death. Death, in reality, is nothingness. Great post, pulled on my heartstrings. Talent, you have…

Such an emotional poem and beautifully outline – the old ones needs all the nurture and care. Do you have a defense background?

Beautiful post. We seniors are so often discarded, even in un-pandemic times. It’s up to us as individuals to keep as active as we can, exercising our mind and body, and be in the face of those who would rather not face us. We are vital. We are important.

Thankyou so much. It’s just so horrible. I am so sorry to hear this that our generation is doing this to seniors. It breaks my heart. Yes you are important. I hope the world changes🙂💞
