A silent culprit of the victims of reality. A cruel unknown punishment of the four chambers of thought. No rash, no fever, no blood tests to scurry people in concern, just a slow acidic erosion on oneself, as insidious cancer, a solidarity experience in a room with your name on it.
Its a disease feeding on ones vulnerabilities. Preying on happiness and addiction to escape the thought. Whose door will it go knocking tonight? Crawling into minds and loathing on insecurities. A modern plague that world fails to notice. It creeps upon slithering into the silence of time rattling in our brain.
A living dead that forbid to live. Scattered in the ashes of a memory so distant. Succumbing to the accept it or living in pain by drowning in the bitterness of alcohol and cigars. Staring into minutes, hours and days till you cannot fell your body no more.No invitation nor an exit door to this game. What hides behind the shield of healthy smile is a shadow of darkness and despair. A lonely stagnation of gloom. Hearing nothing but the silence sinking into nausea of spiraling notions. Drenched in sorrow till darkness covers you like a second layer of skin.
Depression is more than just a mental illness. Its a silent disease and it does not come with warning nor symptoms. It is paralysis of ones emotion. Its a slow poison of void and nothing but emptiness. I want to reflect a thought for today. Something you should consider. Itβs high time now, people need to understand that depression is important. Depression is lethal especially in the times like these. House arrest can become a suicide ground to the games of depression.

Depression is still a taboo sickness. As long as it will be considered so, there will be a lot of people in denial about their problems. There has to be a very deep change in our society and our way of working before there can be some real change. I just hope that talking about it will bring more people to understand that they should not wait in hope that the problem with go away by itself.
Thanks a lot for sharing this with us.

It’s most ignored type of emotion in the world. There are people who have mindset that “avoid talking to people who talk negative, without even knowing why that person is talking that way”… we as humans should respect everything mindset of others and listen.. may be we can be the light for their darkness. . Thank you for putting this here.. hope it reaches mass.. truly best write upπ

I really do not think there are many people, including doctors, that realize depression is really a pandemic. Millions suffer from it throughout their lives and yet there is no real cure. Itβs much like so many other debilitating diseases that are swept under the rug. A pity. Your penning is an exemplary one!

I agree with you 100%. My step-mother takes care of my father. She is 84, he is 88. He has dementia, she does not. Being stuck in so much without another adult to talk to, and answering question after repeated question, I am always worried about her.

Depression is the only criminal who doesn’t need any weapons to kill anyone and ….their happiness who usually lies comfortably in their face and that satisfaction who usually sleep in the heart used to be first victim of this brutal criminal.

Yup , depression is a real thing, one should not make fun of it.
if someone is depressed, clinically mentally or otherwise, take expertsβ advice. do breathing exercise, meditate. if they have air conditioner which many people must have, they should call electrician & get their ceiling fan removed….

This is so true. Such a short and crisp explanation of mental health. Sometimes we don’t understand that depression can’t be seen on people’s or lifestyle. It is a silent disease and only a person studying the human brain may understand.

You are taking action by expressing your feelings through writing. Good for you! Correct by declaring depression is an illness, an illness of the body, not just of the mind. The constant anxiety of my childhood changed the chemical makeup in me, creating migraines and depression. Therapy combined with the right prescription helped get me where I am today. Don’t ever give up. And rememberβyou are not alone!
